There's a fun toy here at work that appeals to my tactile nature. It's a black magnet base with lots of tiny metal stars that are attracted to the magnet. The black base has some education/inpirational motto on it ("Endless Possiblities". How quaint), the name of the student organization on campus, and a fiscal year that has long past. I've been playing with it all day; apparantly my boss used to play with it frequently because it used to sit on her desk, but she wasn't getting any work done, so she put it on a back file cabinet; when she moved the room around, all the little knick-knacks and toys on that file cabinet were thrown onto a tabletop, where I re-discovered this toy. I've since relocated it to the front desk to where the test takers can reach it, and thus it's occasionally remolded while they're waiting. It's fascinating to see what other people's idle fingers come up with. I glance over once in a while to that toy and it's magically molded to a new shape, one I'd never think of.
I love this job.
