Please excuse my silence. I got sick over the weekend (the back of my throat hurt, coughing, a headache); it was mild, but I rarely get any sort of sick, so it threw me off. I subbed for a kindergarten class today; all the kindergarten teachers got subs because they were all running their classes through core testing. For some reason, my voice has warped into some husky/prepubescent sound. It's not like I did more yelling or talking than I normally do. And I've got another kindergarten class on Friday.
To reward and pamper myself, I did not get an appointment with a manicurist or a masseuse, or buy tickets to an amusement park or a movie. I picked up the last Harry Potter book. I was reading an engaging fantasy series (The Song of Ice and Fire) when this book came out and my last semester was about to start. So I told myself to wait until the book wasn't in such high demand, then borrow someone else's copy when they're done devouring it. But I just never had the chance in conversation to say, "Oh, hey. Since you're done with it, can I borrow it?"
By now, the library has, like, seven copies of this humongous book, all sitting on the shelf. This book will help me heal by forcing me to lie around in bed. And I'll finally gain the finality everyone else has had for the last nine months. And surprisingly, the book hasn't been ruined for me. All that's been given away is on this Threadless shirt.
